GO# 12-7612 - Police Rule Shooting Accidental

At 11:05 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to an address in the 0-100 block of Lahey Road in Dartmouth for a report of a person having been shot. Officers located a 15-year-old male youth inside a residence on Lahey Road suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot to his lower body. The youth was transported to the IWK with non-life-threatening injuries. Members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have completed their preliminary investigation and have concluded that this was an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victim remains in hospital at this time with non-life-threatening injuries. Upon his release from hospital he will face weapons-related charges.
