At about 6 p.m. on August 30, Halifax Regional Police responded to the 6000 block of Jubilee Road in Halifax for a disturbance. As a result of the call, officers arrived on scene and were directed to the top flat of the building. A man was inside but would not open the door. As officers were trying to make contact with him, they were told that man had fled out another exit. Officers located the man a short distance from the residence with the assistance of witnesses and he was taken into custody. Officers then noted smoke coming from one of the apartments. Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded and extinguished the blaze in the apartment from which the man had. A 22-year-old man from the Chester area will be remanded to attend court this Tuesday to face numerous charges including break and enter, theft and arson.
