Police Report - September 6, 2013

GO #13-130501/13-130576 - Robbery/Break and Enter – At 8 p.m., police responded to a robbery that occurred in the McDonald's parking lot located at 645 Windmill Road in Dartmouth. A 35-year-old man had his vehicle stolen from him by a man who threatened him with a knife. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the stolen car or the suspect. As this matter was being investigated, officers learned that a break and enter had occurred at the victim's residence located in Hammonds Plains. Numerous items were stolen from the home. Shortly after the break and enter was reported, patrol officers and members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section located the stolen car in the area of Lakecrest Drive in Dartmouth. The vehicle was stopped and two men fled from it. A foot pursuit ensued and one of the men was taken into custody. The items stolen in the break and enter were recovered from the stolen motor vehicle.  A 41-year-old man is facing robbery, break and enter and assaulting police charges. He has been held for court on Monday. No one was injured during these events and it appears at this point that these incidents were not random in nature.
