At 5 a.m., a taxi driver stopped to pick up a female fare at Pizza Corner in Halifax. As he stopped, the woman, plus an additional woman and three men, jumped inside his taxi and directed him to Dartmouth. As he was driving on Victoria Road, the group began to demand money from him and directed him to pull over on a side street. The taxi driver feared for his safety and kept driving. At this time, the group in the car began to assault him. He stopped at the corner of Victoria Road and Albro Lake Road and exited the vehicle to attempt to find someone to help him. One of the men in the vehicle then got behind the wheel and drove the group off with the taxi, which was last seen heading west on Albro Lake Road. The vehicle was found abandoned on Wyse Road a short time later. The suspects were not located. The victim, a 35-year-old man, sustained minor injuries during the assault and the suspects were not able to get any cash from him. The only description of the suspects at this time is that the group consisted of three black males and two black females; one of the females was wearing black and white pants.
