At 2:30 a.m., police responded to Pleasant Street near Portland Street to a report of a head-on collision. A 58-year-old female taxi driver, who was the sole occupant of her vehicle, was stopped at Pleasant Street facing north bound. A BMW sedan with six occupants came around the corner attempting to turn right onto Pleasant Street from Portland Street. The BMW struck the taxi head-on. Both vehicles sustained major damage. The 29-year-old male driver of the BMW was arrested at the scene for impaired driving causing bodily harm. He remains in police custody. The other five occupants of the BMW were adults. A 32-year-old female who was a passenger in the rear of the vehicle received serious but not believed to be life-threatening injuries. The female taxi driver also received serious but not believed to be life-threatening injuries. Pleasant Street between Portland Street and St. Georges Lane was shut down while accident investigators were on-scene.
