At 2:37 p.m on March 23, Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons call in the 2300 block of Gottingen Street. A woman called 911 stating that two people had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that two women, a 31- year-old and a 19-year-old, had been stabbed. One victim had a single stab wound and the second victim had several stab wounds. Both victims were taken to the QE2 by EHS with non-life threatening injuries.

Both victims were in a residence when a man entered the apartment and stabbed both victims. He then fled on foot.

The Integrated HRP/RCMP GIS members will be continuing the investigation. The victims are being interviewed by police members and we are looking for a lone male suspect. At this stage of the investigation it does not appear to be a random act.

Description of suspect: black male, 5'8", heavy set, goatee and gap between front teeth, wearing red and black jacket.

UPDATE: The Integrated HRP/RCMP GIS have identified a 30-year-old suspect who is known to police. He is arrestable for two counts of attempted murder and one count of robbery. Officers are actively searching for the suspect at this time.
