At 11:30 p.m. West members assisted the fire department at an address in the 0-50 block of Pinegrove Drive. The home owner reported hearing a bang in her basement and discovered a small fire. She was home with an adult male at the time and four dogs. They safely evacuated the residence uninjured and the fire was quickly extinguished by the fire department. The residence sustained minor damages. During the course of the investigation and as a result of evidence collected at the scene, this incident is being classified as an arson. A forensic identification member attended the scene to collect evidence as well as a K-9 unit utilized. A track did lead away from the scene where it is possible the suspect may have gotten into a vehicle. This investigation will be turned over to the Integrated General Investigative Section.
