At 7:40 p.m. on April 5, a 42-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body attended the Dartmouth General Hospital. The injury was not life threatening. The victim stated he was walking n the area of 95 Caledonia Road in Dartmouth when he got involved in an altercation with another man. He informed police that during this altercation the other man pulled out a handgun and shot him. He stated that he then called a friend who drove him to the hospital. HRP patrol officers, K-9 officers and investigators from the HRP/RCMP integrated General Investigation Unit all attended the area investigating this incident. At this time, the exact location of the altercation has not been determined. The victim was treated in hospital and released. He describes the suspect as being a light skinned black man,approximately 20 years of age, 6 feet in height, thin build, wearing jeans, a dark red hoodie and sunglasses. The matter is still under investigation.
