Just after 1 p.m., two West Division Patrol members responded to a call of a woman behaving erratically in an apartment building on Evans Avenue. The responding members determined the female appeared to be suffering from a mental illness causing her to be a danger to herself or others. There was a struggle when the officers attempted to place the woman under arrest under the Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act, after which the members observed the woman to be suffering from a stab wound to her torso. EHS transported the female to hospital with what were life-threatening injuries at the time. The Provincial Serious Incident Response Team has been notified and will be investigating the incident.
