At 10 p.m. police responded to a dispute between a man and a woman near the Dartmouth Shopping Center. The altercation was observed by two people who intervened on the woman’s behalf. A 32-year-old man, who was one of the people who intervened, was subsequently struck in the face by the suspect but not injured. During the course of this incident, the suspect was observed to be in possession of a knife. Following the assault, the suspect fled on foot. East Division patrol officers flooded the area and quickly arrested the suspect on Albro Lake Road. A 49-year-old Dartmouth man faces multiple charges including assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, theft and breach of court orders. The accused has been held and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 11.
