At approximately 8:55 p.m., officers responded to a two-car motor vehicle collision on Portland Street near Portland Estates Boulevard. It appears that a vehicle was travelling inbound on Portland Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and struck the rear end of a vehicle in front travelling in the same direction. This vehicle in turn was pushed across to the opposite side of the road striking a guard rail. The two adults in this vehicle weren't injured. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and Portland Street was shut down for a short period of time. The 35-year-old male driver of the speeding vehicle was not injured and was arrested at the scene for impaired driving. He will appear in Dartmouth court at a later date.
