At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of an unwanted person in an apartment in the 200 block of Windmill Road. The suspect was in violation of his court ordered release conditions by being at this address. Upon arrival, officers learned that the man had fled the apartment but was believed to still be in the building and armed with a knife. The suspect had also made numerous threats towards the complainant and police before fleeing the apartment. A search of the apartment building was conducted and the suspect, who was armed with a knife, was located in a vacant unit apartment. The suspect complied with demands to drop the weapon, but upon arrest a struggled ensued as he tried to assault several officers. The suspect was taken into custody and he was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries that were sustained during the arrest. None of the officers were injured. A 41-year-old man is currently in police custody and will be attending Dartmouth Provincial Court this morning. He is charged with numerous offences including possession of a weapon, uttering threats, assaulting a police officer and violation of court orders.
