At 4:50 p.m. on June 21, officers responded to a weapons complaint at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility at 90 Gloria McCluskey Avenue in Dartmouth. Staff at the facility reported that an inmate had been stabbed multiple times. The 39-year-old male victim was taken to the QEII Hospital and his medical condition remains life-threatening at this time. Members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have charged five adult male inmates with attempt murder, aggravated assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The five accused will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
