On September 17 at 3 p.m., a 27-year-old woman was walking in the area of Chebucto Road and St. Matthias Street in Halifax when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her and touched her in a sexual manner over her clothing. The suspect attempted to force the woman into a nearby alley but she fought him off. The victim was not physically injured.
The 35-year-old male suspect was located on foot at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the area of Oxford and Berlin Streets in Halifax, where he was arrested and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing and the suspect, who is known to police, is expected to attend court today to face sexual assault charges.
