At 11:10 p.m. on June 3, Halifax Regional Police responded to 21 Gaston Road to assist Halifax Fire & Emergency at the scene of a fire at the Gaston Road Variety Store. The west side of the building was on fire. The lone occupant got out of the building safely with no injuries. Fire investigators and a member of the Halifax Regional Police Forensic Identification member attended the scene, and the fire is believed to be an arson. The General Investigative Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigative Division will be continuing the investigation.
