GO#12-6121 - Armed Robbery

At 4:30 p.m. officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Bank of Montreal located at 6371 Quinpool Road. A lone male had entered the bank, approached a teller and demanded to have the cash turned over to him. The suspect was armed with a hand gun. The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the bank on foot. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect was seen leaving the area in a vehicle described as a newer model Chevrolet Cobalt.

Approximately 20 minutes later, officers spotted a vehicle matching this description being driven on North Street near Maynard Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on this vehicle and as a result a 20-year-old man was taken into custody. The cash and the weapon were recovered from the vehicle. The suspect is currently in police custody and will be attending Halifax court on January 13 to face robbery charges.

As a result of further investigation, this man will also be facing robbery charges in relation to the January 11 armed robbery call at The Cash Store.
