At about 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, officers responded to the 600 block of Bedford Highway for a disturbance. Upon arrival, they observed a blood trail in the hallway of the building and located two men with what appeared to be knife wounds. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries; EHS transported one of them to the QEII and the other was treated at the scene. Members of the Integrated General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Section attended the scene to assist in the investigation. This matter remains under investigation.

Update as of 12:30 p.m. Sunday, October 5: During an altercation a 29-year-old man was stabbed by a 35-year-old man. Both men live in the same apartment complex on the Bedford Highway. After being stabbed, the victim returned to his apartment and called police. Halifax Regional Police officers attended and located the suspect at his residence. He was subsequently arrested and has been in police custody since then. He will be charged with assault with a weapon and it is believed he will be released, with a court date at a later time. While at the scene, he was assessed by EHS for a cut to his hand. The victim remains in hospital with a stab wound to his arm. The investigation is continuing, including a search warrant being executed at the scene.
