Last night at 9:27 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a man with a gun inside Showtime Video on Albro Lake Road in Dartmouth.
When police arrived, it was learned the store had been robbed by a man wearing a mask. The man had assaulted a patron while entering the business and then proceeded to the counter where he pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded the money from the till. He obtained cash and fled the store.
Responding members obtained a detailed description of the suspect and his clothing. At 10:10 p.m., a member of the General Investigative Section observed a man matching the description of the suspect on Joseph Young Street in Highfield Park. The suspect fled when approached, however after a brief foot chase, he was arrested. The suspect, identified as a 16-year-old youth, was found to have a pellet pistol in his possession.
As a result of the investigation, the youth is scheduled to appear in Youth court today to face charges of robbery and numerous weapons related offences.
