At 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, officers responded to an apartment in the area of 1500 Barrington Street to a report of a man attempting to break into an apartment. A 37-year-old woman was home alone inside her apartment when she heard someone repeatedly knocking at her door. She observed a man in his late 20’s outside her door who stated he was attempting to make a delivery. He eventually left but returned a short time later and continued to knock on her door, eventually breaking the door. The female resident screamed and the suspect fled the apartment complex. During the course of the investigation, police identified the suspect responsible and at 8:07 p.m. he was arrested at the intersection of Barrington and Prince Streets. He was taken into custody without incident. The 28-year-old Halifax man will be held in police custody, charged with attempted break and enter and failing to comply with a probation order.
