At about 6:20 p.m. on Friday, January 9, Halifax Regional Police responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision in the 200 block of Wyse Road in Dartmouth. A van was travelling north on Wyse Road when an elderly man dressed in dark clothing stepped into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The pedestrian, an 81-year-old man from Dartmouth, was transported to QEII hospital by EHS with what were considered life-threathening injuries at the time. The 35-year-old woman driving the vehicle and her passenger were not injured. Accident Investigators and the Forensic Identification Section attended the scene to assist in the investigation. It appears that weather conditions may have contributed to the collision. Further, the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when he was struck. At this time, there are no charges anticipated to be laid against the driver of the vehicle.
