Mark Baltzer, the patient missing from the East Coast Forensic Hospital in Dartmouth since yesterday evening, was taken into custody by Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia On January 11 in Parrsboro, NS. He will be returned to East Coast Forensic Hospital. We thank the RCMP and other police agencies in the province, the media and the public for their assistance with this matter.

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a man reported missing from the East Coast Forensic Hospital.

Fifty-eight-year-old Mark Baltzer was reported missing to police at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, when he left the East Coast Forensic Hospital without permission.

Baltzer is described as white, 6’0, 210 lbs. with short grey hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a beige hoody and jeans. He left the hospital driving a 2012 black Dodge Ram truck, Nova Scotia License FDB 633. Baltzer requires medication and ongoing treatment at the East Coast Forensic Hospital.

Halifax Regional Police is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mark Baltzer to contact police at 490-5016. He can be violent, primarily with police, so members of the public should not approach him or try to take matters into their own hands and should call 9-1-1 if they see him.
