Halifax Regional Police is asking the public to exercise caution and avoid areas if at all possible along the Sackville River in Bedford due to rushing water and/or flooding, including:
- Fish Hatchery Park: An area of the park, including the bandstand and parts of the walkway, is submerged. We currently have a uniformed presence at this scene to ensure that restricted access is enforced.
- Union Street: There is flooding in the area which is impacting the parking lots of Bedford Place Mall and the Superstore.
- Moirs Mill: The trail system and lower parking lot are affected by flooding.
We’re asking people to avoid the areas of Fish Hatchery Park and Moirs Mill, and particularly to stay away from the riverbank to ensure they are not swept into the rushing water. We thank the public for their cooperation.
