Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax Transit is advising passengers of required detours in effect this weekend due to the first full weekend closure of the Macdonald Bridge, as part of the re-decking project known as the Big Lift.
The existing evening MacKay Bridge shuttle service will be on regular schedules on Friday and Sunday evenings, beginning at 6:30 p.m. until the end of the service day.
Beginning at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, and continuing until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, all routes that normally travel the Macdonald Bridge will detour instead via the MacKay Bridge. Buses will facilitate drop-offs at regular bus stops along the detoured route, however, pick-ups will only take place once regular routing has resumed.
Please note that these detours will be standard procedure for all forthcoming weekend closures of the Macdonald Bridge during the Big Lift project, which is anticipated to wrap up in 2017.
Passengers should expect minor service delays; Halifax Transit regrets any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of these detours.
