Halifax Regional Police has arrested a woman in relation to an extortion investigation.
On July 20, a 46-year-old man attended Police Headquarters to report that he was receiving threatening messages from a woman he met online. After a brief relationship, the man ended their association and, soon after, started receiving threatening messages and demands for money from the woman.
Investigators with the Integrated General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division arrested a 27-year-old woman at 12:45 a.m. this morning. She is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court later today to face charges of extortion, uttering threats to cause death or serious bodily harm as well as breach of a probation order.
