Following the High Risk Offender Information Protocol, HRM Partners in Policing are providing information to all residents of Halifax Regional Municipality about an offender who is about to be released in the area.
Fifty-five-year-old Douglas Gladstone Burden will be released to a Community Correctional Centre from a federal penitentiary today after serving over 20 years of an almost 21 year aggregated sentence. Burden was convicted of numerous charges involving administering a noxious substance, unlawful confinement and several sexual assaults in 1992. He is described as a white man, 5’11”, 164 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes.
Given his criminal history and previous revocation of his parole, there are concerns that he could re-offend. This information is provided to alert members of the public of his presence in our community so they may take suitable precautionary measures. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct will not be tolerated.
