HRP Holds Swearing-in and Promotional Ceremony

This afternoon, Halifax Regional Police promoted two new Sergeants and swore in eight new officers.

Earlier this afternoon at City Hall, Chief Jean-Michel Blais, in the presence of Mayor Mike Savage and Chair of the Board of Police Commissioners Micki Ruth, promoted Constables Jason Withrow and Stephen McCormack to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt Withrow is a 13-year veteran of Halifax Regional Police and was recently employed in the HRP/RCMP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. Sgt McCormack is a 12-year veteran and was recently employed with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit. They will both be re-assigned to the patrol division.

In addition, eight new police officers were also sworn-in during the ceremony. The new officers will fill existing vacancies in the Patrol Division starting the first week of December.
