Halifax Regional Police is inviting members of the public to their 31st Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service this Sunday, October 20 to honour officers who have died in the line of duty in Canada during the last year and to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the years prior.

Officers from across the province will assemble in Grand Parade at the Nova Scotia Fallen Peace Officers’ Monument at 9:30 a.m. for a brief ceremony to honour Nova Scotia peace officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the officers will march down Barrington Street to historic St. Mary’s Basilica at the corner of Spring Garden Road and Barrington Street for the 10:30 a.m. church service.

The participating organizations include Halifax Regional Police, RCMP, Military Police, Canada Border Services Agency, Nova Scotia Sheriffs Services, Nova Scotia municipal police departments and the Nova Scotia Department of Justice.

Officers cannot do their jobs without the support and assistance from members of the public who want to do their part to make our community a safer place. This services provides an opportunity for the public and peace officers to join together to honour fallen officers.
