Halifax Regional Police was happy to co-host an event this morning to launch New Start Counselling’s ‘On being a better man’ poster series. The unveiling of the posters was followed by a panel discussion on the topic of men’s violence against women, which was moderated by Chief Jean-Michel Blais. S/Sgt. Scott MacDonald and Cst. Ray Turner of HRP shared their experiences as police officers responding to incidents of domestic violence, and Eric Ross of New Start Counselling discussed what he’s learned from counselling men who commit violence and abuse against women and ways these men can take responsibility for their abusive behaviour. High resolution versions of the posters can be downloaded from the New Start website at http://www.newstartcounselling.ca/?q=DocumentDepot
