As part of National Volunteer Week (April 15-21), Halifax Regional Police (HRP) is recognizing its volunteers who make many of our community outreach and crime prevention programs possible.

On April 19, at a formal recognition event, Halifax Regional Police will recognize volunteers with Burnside Watch, Citizens on Patrol, Seniors’ Home Safety Program, Cops ’n Kids Program, HRP Youth Program, Neighbourhood Watch, Police Chaplains, Victim Services as well as our internal Employee and Family Assistance Program. Collectively HRP’s volunteers, numbering in excess of 120, contribute over 15,000 hours of volunteer time each year, helping to make our community a better place to live, work and play. To celebrate their volunteerism, this week on our website and social media sites we will highlight various volunteers and their contributions to making our community safer.

HRP is always recruiting volunteers. Citizens interested in making a difference in our community are urged to visit www.halifax.ca/police/programs/volunteering.html or contact HRP’s Volunteer Programs Coordinator at 490-6976 or burnssh@halifax.ca.
