HRP’s Mounted Unit Rounds Up Arrest at Traffic Stop

A man faces charges after a traffic stop yesterday afternoon in Halifax.

At 2:41 p.m., an officer assigned to the HRP Mounted Unit conducted a traffic stop on Tower Road near Ogilvie Street. The officer observed a clear plastic bag containing marijuana in the front seat and smelled freshly burnt marijuana. A second patrol unit attended and arrested the driver without incident. A quantity of marijuana and other paraphernalia were also seized at this time.

The twenty-four year old Halifax man is facing charges of drug possession and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.

The Halifax Regional Police’s Mounted Unit is assigned to proactive patrols through HRM and assists in special events as well as being called upon to enforce both the Criminal Code and Provincial Motor Vehicle Act.
