Halifax Regional Police has charged a woman with impaired driving following a collision involving a police wagon overnight in Halifax.
At 2:10 a.m., a police wagon was parked on the side of the road facing south in the 200 block of Parkland Drive, while officers were inside completing an unrelated call for service. A Honda Civic travelling south rear-ended the police wagon and came to a stop following the collision. The Honda Civic sustained significant damage while the police wagon was slightly damaged. Neither the driver of the vehicle nor the two officers in the police wagon were injured.
Following a short investigation, a 34-year-old Halifax woman was arrested for impaired driving. She is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having a blood alcohol level that exceeds the legal limit. She was also served with two Summary Offence Tickets for operating an unregistered vehicle and driving motor vehicle without motor vehicle liability policy.
