Wednesday, April 13, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Work to improve accessibility and open space at the Sackville Public Library and adjoining municipal service centre in Lower Sackville are scheduled to begin next week.

The building in the Acadia Centre at 636 Sackville Dr. will remain open to the public during construction, although the main entrance will need to be closed periodically for safety reasons. Signage will be in place and residents will be able to access the library and service centre from entrances on the side of the building when the front door is inaccessible.

The improvements at the site will include widening the sidewalk in front of the building to include a small plaza with trees, wider wheelchair ramps into the building, and fencing along the street to tie into the design of the landscaping improvements at the Little Sackville River crossing.

This work will begin on Wednesday, April 20, and will be broken down into three phases to ensure continued access to the building throughout construction. All of the improvements are expected to be complete by early June. The municipality regrets any inconvenience this work may cause.
