Halifax Regional Police has referred an incident that occurred earlier today to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) for investigation.
On January 27, at 5:40 a.m., officers responded to a dispute at a Halifax address involving an off-duty police officer and a woman known to him. Halifax Regional Police officers investigated the incident further throughout the morning and based on the investigation, referred the matter to SiRT this afternoon.
SiRT is conducting the investigation into an alleged domestic assault involving the officer, who has been with the Department for over 7½ years. Questions regarding the investigation are to be referred to SiRT.
The officer has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of this investigation.
