Incident referred to SiRT for investigation

Halifax Regional Police has referred an incident that occurred yesterday to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) for investigation.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. officers attended an address on Springhill Road in Dartmouth looking for a 33-year-old man who was in breach of court-imposed conditions. Officers located the man and arrested him for breaching his court-imposed order and resisting arrest. The man was held in custody at police headquarters and during the night, he reported that his hand was injured. He was taken to hospital where it was determined he had a broken hand. He was treated in hospital and returned to police custody. He will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today

At this incident resulted in injuries following police involvement, Halifax Regional Police contacted SiRT and they are conducting an investigation into this matter. Any questions about their investigation should be directed to SiRT.
