In their continued effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, the Integrated Traffic Unit will focus on speed enforcement during the month of July.
With warmer weather upon us and the school year now over, the Traffic Unit encourages citizens to watch their speed and to be aware of cyclists, pedestrians and children playing on or near the street. Motorists are reminded that the faster you drive, the less time you have to react.
The unit’s focus in June was speed enforcement and impaired driving. Officers issued 1,990 Summary Offence Tickets during the month for a range of Motor Vehicle Act violations, 365 of which were speed-related.
