Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Residents are advised of work that will take place between now and the end of December in districts 12 (Timberlea-Beechville-Clayton Park-Wedgewood) and 15 (Lower Sackville), to convert traditional streetlights to new energy efficient LED streetlights.

Contracted utility crews and traffic control personnel will be working on-street in districts 12 and 15 during daytime hours. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are asked to slow down when approaching these work sites; traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around the site as needed. During this work, residents and motorists should expect minor traffic disruptions in the area and are advised to report any issues to 311.

The ongoing streetlight replacement is part of a two-year LED streetlight conversion project that will result in all 44,000 municipally-owned streetlights being converted to LED technology by the end of December 2017. Contracted crews have already completed conversion of streetlights in a number of districts across the region, as we near the halfway point of this project.

Check the online map to see the current status of streetlight conversion within each district of the Halifax Regional Municipality.
