Halifax Regional Police is issuing a traffic advisory in relation to the Light Up Bedford Parade which is scheduled for this Sunday.
The parade, which starts at 5:45 p.m., will travel from the parking lot of Bedford Place Mall and proceed south on Bedford Highway to Hammonds Plains Road, concluding at the Sobeys parking lot. This event is expected to draw a lot of spectators along the entire parade route and the Bedford Highway and side streets will be closed as the parade passes through the area. Motorists should expect delays throughout the parade route area due to increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic as well as road closures, some of which will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Police encourage anyone planning to attend the parade to consider using public transportation or carpooling to reduce the amount of traffic in the area. Motorists are also reminded that there will be no parking along the parade route and vehicles in violation will be ticketed and possibly towed. We thank citizens in advance for their cooperation.
