Loretta Saunders’ homicide investigation

Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are now treating the disappearance of Loretta Saunders as a homicide.

On February 17, 26-year-old Loretta Saunders was reported missing to police by her family. She was last seen in the Cowie Hill Road area in Halifax on the morning of February 13. On February 18, her car was located in Harrow, Ontario and 25-year-old Blake Leggette and 28-year-old Victoria Henneberry are currently incarcerated in Halifax, each facing a charge of theft of motor vehicle.

Loretta’s remains have yet to be located. Investigators are making every effort to determine the location of her body so that she can be brought home to her family.

Investigators have identified suspects in this homicide and they are not looking for anyone else. This homicide investigation is on-going and charges are anticipated. 

We recognize that Loretta’s family and friends, along with the community, have rallied together in an effort to bring her home safely. This is a tragic incident and a profound loss. Our sincere thoughts and condolences go out to Loretta’s family and friends.
