Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

One man was arrested over the weekend in connection with a shooting that occurred in Halifax.

On November 3 at 2:15 a.m, Halifax Regional Police responded to several shots fired in the area of Robie Street and McCulley Street. A 48-year-old taxi driver was driving north on Robie Street with a male passenger when his vehicle was shot at from another vehicle. The suspect vehicle, a small silver car, fled the area and no one was injured during this incident.

On November 11, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police arrested 24-year-old Kyle Douglas Shipley of Williamswood without incident. Shipley was remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later today. He faces the following charges:

CC 239 – Attempted murder (2 counts)CC 267(a) – Assault with a weapon (2 counts)CC 117.01(1) – Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition orderCC 86(1) – Careless use of a firearmCC 86(2) – Unsafe storage of a firearmCC 87(1) – Pointing a firearmCC 88(1) – Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peaceCC 92(1) – Possession of a firearm without licenseCC 94 – Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon in a motor vehicleCC 85(1) (a) – Use of a firearm in the commission of an offence                             CC 244 – Discharging a firearm with intent (2 counts)CC 244.2(1) (a) – Discharging a firearm – reckless endangerment to the life of another person (2 counts)
