Officers have charged a man after he seriously assaulted a man onboard a Metro Transit bus yesterday in Halifax.
At 2:20 p.m., police responded to an assault in progress onboard a Metro Transit bus in the 300 block of Herring Cove Road. Officers located a 25-year-old male victim inside the bus suffering from cuts to his face; he was treated at the scene by EHS. The suspect fled the scene before police arrival but a review of the bus surveillance video allowed officers to identify him. He was later arrested at his nearby residence. The victim and the suspect knew one another and this is not believed to be a random incident.
A 21-year-old Halifax man is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm, causing a disturbance and breach of probation. He has been held in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
