Man charged after attempting to sell stolen property online

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have arrested a man after he attempted to sell stolen property on an online classified website.

On January 8, officers responded to a break and enter not in-progress at a residence on Grover Drive in Williamswood. The homeowners returned home and noticed that someone had entered their house and stole a number of electronic items. The suspect(s) were not located.

On January 13, the homeowners discovered some of their stolen electronic equipment advertised for sale on an online classified site. They contacted police and then arranged to meet the suspect to buy the items. Officers arrest the suspect without incident when he showed up for the meeting in the 3600 block of Joseph Howe Drive. The recovered stolen property was returned to the rightful owners.

The 39-year-old Halifax man was released from custody. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of possession of stolen goods and trafficking in stolen property.
