A man has been charged with break and enter, assault and forcible confinement after an incident early this morning in Halifax.

At 1:31 a.m., police responded to a break and enter call at a residence in the 1000 block of Barrington Street. A man not known to the female victim had offered to walk her home from the Blowers Street area. He then forced his way into her apartment building and restrained her in the hallway. The woman was able to call police during the incident. When officers arrived, the suspect still had the victim restrained and he had to be physically removed by police. The suspect was arrested and held in police custody overnight. The victim was not physically injured.

Twenty-six-year-old Craig John McPhee of Halifax was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of break and enter, assault and forcible confinement.
