Man faces charges after disturbance in Dartmouth yesterday

A 37-year-old Dartmouth man faces numerous charges after a physical disturbance in Dartmouth yesterday evening.

On February 11 at 5:10 p.m., police responded to a physical disturbance in the 0-100 block of Kennedy Drive in Dartmouth. A 40-year-old woman reported that a man had assaulted her and that he was causing damage inside the residence. The man and woman are known to each other.

The police confirmed upon arrival that the woman had safely exited the residence and the man was the lone occupant. Officers maintained a dialogue with the man through the door in an attempt to get him to exit, but he refused. Members of the Emergency Response Team breached the door and the man was taken into custody without incident.

Ashley Michael Googoo will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face one count each of forcible confinement, assault and property damage and five counts of breaching court orders.
