Man facing charges following traffic stop GO#21-91627

A 28-year-old man is facing several firearms charges following a traffic stop earlier in Dartmouth.  

At approximately 5:25 p.m. on July 29, members of the Halifax Regional Police Integrated Guns and Gangs Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Pinecrest Drive and Primrose Street in Dartmouth.

During the course of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle was found to have in their possession a firearm and a quantity of drugs.

The driver was charged criminally with the following offences and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court this morning:

  • Unsafe Handling of a Firearm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Possession in a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm where Serial Number has been Altered Defaced or Removed
