On August 3, at approximately 9:55 p.m., members of Halifax Regional Police responded to a reported robbery in progress at the Needs store in the 6100 block of Chebucto Road. The suspect had a knife in his possession and was still inside the store as the first responding officers arrived. He refused to comply with police commands as he exited the store and a conducted energy weapon was deployed to effect the arrest. A quantity of cash and merchandise was recovered. A 45-year-old man is expected to appear in court today to face charges related to the robbery.
