Halifax Regional Police has charged a man with weapons offences after an incident last night in Dartmouth.
At 11:35 p.m., officers in the East Quick Response Unit were conducting a compliance check at an apartment building in the 200 block of Windmill Road. While entering the building, they saw a man holding a knife. The man ran from police to another location in the building, leading to a short foot pursuit. Officers quickly apprehended the man and seized the knife, which was discovered to be a prohibited weapon.
The man, 21-year-old Justin Johnson, is facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
