Saturday, March 5, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Most municipal recreation facilities are delaying opening until at least noon today due to the weather and road conditions. Recreation staff will reassess at 11 a.m. and make a decision then about afternoon and evening programs.
Arenas in the Halifax region will make their own decision about opening today. Skating lessons starting 11 a.m. at the Halifax Forum will go ahead as scheduled.
Residents are advised to call ahead to their respective rink or other recreation facility for further updates on cancellations and closures. Contact information for municipally operated facilities is online at http://www.halifax.ca/rec/reccentres.php.
Safety is the municipality’s top priority. Delaying opening will help crews clear the streets and sidewalks safely and efficiently. The municipality regrets any inconvenience and thanks residents for their cooperation.
