Thursday, June 29, 2017 (Halifax, NS) - The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that effective Monday, July 3, 2017 the 311 contact centre will introduce new hours of operation.

As of July 3, the municipal contact centre will offer full service from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and will provide weekend service Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Urgent service will continue to be available outside of the new 311 hours of operation.

These changes were approved by Regional Council on February 15, 2017 as part of the 2017-18 multi-year budget process.

Schedule information for Halifax Transit, garbage and recycling, as well as recreation programs will continue to be available by selecting the appropriate prompt after dialing 311 and listening to the automated messages.

This change means additional contact centre representatives will be available during the hours when 311 receives its highest volume of calls.

Residents are reminded that there are many tools available online to help people know when municipal services are available. Visit halifax.ca, download the HfxRecycles app, or use Google Transit and other third-party apps for Halifax Transit trip planning.
