Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Residents and visitors are invited to lace up their skates, strap on their helmets and join us to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Emera Oval this Wednesday, Dec. 31.

There will be public skates throughout the day and night, starting at noon. Residents can check the full schedule online or call the Emera Oval hotline at 902-490-2347.

DJ Chris Swift will spin some tunes during the public skates from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to midnight. Bring the kids to countdown New Year’s Eve at 7 p.m. with fireworks on the Halifax Common. A second fireworks display will be held at midnight, following the last skate of the evening.

All participants are reminded that children 12 and under are required to wear a CSA-approved multi-impact helmet at all times on the ice, and others are encouraged to do the same, for their own safety.

There are free equipment rentals on site for those who don’t have their own skates or helmets. All you need is a valid government-issued photo ID to borrow equipment.

Get the latest information and a schedule of events at skatehrm.ca. Residents can also call the Information Line at 902-490-2347.
