HRM Partners in Policing are proud to take part in Operation Christmas again this year to continue the fight against drinking and driving.

Earlier today, the HRP/RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit, along with law enforcement agencies from across the province, teamed up in Sydney to launch Operation Christmas. The annual campaign aims to reduce impaired driving and encourage motorists to practice safe winter driving.

During Operation Christmas, the traffic unit will conduct checkpoints throughout the region to ensure that drivers on our roadways are sober and educated on the dangers of getting behind the wheel after drinking.

Driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs puts everyone in danger. In December 2009, MADD Canada and the Province of Nova Scotia launched Campaign 911 which encourages people to call police with information on suspected impaired drivers. HRM Partners in Policing continue to be encouraged by the number of citizens helping to play a role in community safety. If you have information on a drunk driver, please call 911.
